Launch Pad

For the ICA brief I wanted to research into interactive museum exhibitions and decided to take a stroll down to the science museum, where I found the Launchpad. Its a hands on gallery where scientific themes such as light, materials, energy transfer, forces and motion, electricity and magnetism and sound can be explored and controlled by visitors.

The launch pad area is definitely a brilliant way to get the visitors involved especially as the majority of them are kids and the best way to learn science is through doing it yourself. Although it really suits the Science Museum it wouldn't be something that would suit the ICA.

At the end of the launchpad was the draw it, film it, text it, make it section where it encourages visitors to write about their experiences, what they liked, they didn't like, pictures they drew or things they videoed that represented the launchpad and how they felt. I liked this part of the gallery as I felt that it bought in the visitors creativity in a more scientific environment and also it gives it a nice personal feel to it. Although it was hidden in the corner!
