Barney Bubbles

"Diverse type sizes and weights, overprinting, cluttered pages, deliberate 'mistakes', unpredictable historicist references, blurred photographs and even in some cases an embrace of general messiness- all elements that rejects the dogmatic rules of the International style"

Process: The working practices of Barney Bubbles currently hosted by Chelsea space. I went to see this exhibition and I have to be honest I had never heard of Barney Bubbles before....WHERE HAD I BEEN! His work is amazing. The exhibition is so small but covered from floor to ceiling in his work, taking a look at Barney Bubble's delight in the processes of graphic design and print production. He worked before the age of computer technology had taken over as the main application for design which enabled him to explore a range of mediums and approaches.

BB's work is so varied, alluring and appropriate of his time but still remains contemporary to this day. He is definitely someone I would aspire to be and I am sure to reference to his work throughout my design career. What a brilliantly put together exhibition that really captures the essence of Barney Bubbles and his creative career.
