100 Collages

As I have mentioned earlier on my blog after our image workshop we were set the task of creating 100 A6 collages. I decided I wanted a theme and since it was post card size it reminded me of the post secret exhibition. Post secret is an ongoing art exhibition by Frank Warren where people take a blank postcard, write down a secret anonymously and send it in.

Here are some examples from his on going blog where he posts a random selection each day. I love the personal effect the post cards have and that coupled with the inspiration I have taken from Graham Rawle's work I wanted to create a theme for my 100 collages.
Taking influence from Graham Rawle's method used in Woman's World as well s Post Secret, I decided to ask everyone I knew:

"What would you say to the world if you could do anonymously? A secret, a joke, something that has always annoyed you, or haunted you or you just want to get your message across?"

I have made a list of everyone's answers so far and decided to post a couple to show the kind of feedback. People have been surprisingly honest, funny and poetic...but also rude!

1. If you had asked I would've said yes.
2. When I was 13 I tried to kill myself, only 2 people knew...now you do to.
3. To the woman wearing an 'I heart my bump' tee-shirt, stop lying to yourself, that ain't no baby!
4. manners cost nothing, use them, no body likes a twat.
5. Its not your heart I'm breaking. Its your face.
6. The words 'weed iz gud' are engraved into the train window next to me...good morning Tonbridge!
7. Sit in a box, get stereotyped, be typecast.
8. I have always fancied my lesbians friends girlfriend..and I'm a little straight girl
9. I've spent years perfecting my please do not sit next to me on public transport face.
10. I masturbate to pictures of Pat Butcher.

First of all I tried out compositions:

I like the fact that I have cut the images and brought them together to make it more obvious that it is London's sky line. And the word terrorism makes it seem really sinister. However it is really cluttered with the newspaper article in the background and so I want to look in more detail at white space.
This is a more random collage but the white space ensures that the word and the image is more blunt and has a greater impact. I will keep this in mind when creating my own collages bearing in mind the statement as well and its relation to the image.

Here are some of the collages that I have already created based on my answers.

Just another 97 to go....
