Paolo Roversi's work for Italian Vogue with Stella Tennant

"Evanescent, ethereal, magnificently refined. Stella Tenant perfectly embodies the protagonist of a couture story between dream and fairy-tale"

I was excited to see Paolo Roversi's photo-shoot for the March issue of the Italian Vogue with Stella Tennant. I have always loved her androgynous look and here Roversi manipulates it in moody wistful images creating an alluring punk fairytale.  In celebration of couture Tennant models dramatic clothes flawlessly designed by Chanel, Dior and Givenchy. Roversi's warped photography and unusual camera angels creates an impression that they are shot in fun house mirrors which coupled with the couture clothing and statement hair convey a fun carnival feeling with a twist of seriousness. He's work is commonly in disrepute for looking like poor quality however to me the way that he has embraced the technique of painting with light, clearly used his vast technical knowledge to successfully use warping and camera angles to create such a unique feel in contrast to most of the standard work witnessed in the fashion world holds his work amongst legends. Just love it.
